Appearance:
She has long, dark brown hair and green eyes. Her most common outfit, seen in merchandise and official artwork, is a green military uniform and matching beret. In the actual series, she can usually be seen dressed in a maid outfit. The flower she wears in her hair, according to notes by Himaruya, is meant to represent Lake Balaton. It has been alternatively colored pink and yellow in the official artwork, though it is colored orange in the anime adaptation.
Personality:
In her past, Hungary was once a nomadic girl who loved to chase after horses on the plains, and was a rather tomboyish child, to the point where she believed herself to be a boy until hitting puberty. She is described as being both a reliable older sister type and the manliest character in the series, and she also appears to be a fujoshi (a woman who is a yaoi fan). She doesn't get along well with Romania, to the point where their relationship is described as being like that of a cat and a dog. It is also said that due to her dislike of Romanians, she would name her dogs after them. Mongolia is said to have bullied Hungary in her youth, along with the Ottoman Empire (Turkey).

Role Play Sample:

It was an average day when Elizibeta say some platinum hair the made her un-pleased. She took out her frying pan and hit him over the head out of instinct. Sadly, it wasn't the blonde she was expecting. In fact, the person she just hit wasn't even blonde. It was Roderich who had been picking up pieces of a broken necklace or something of the sorts. She pulled him inside and put some ice on his head, fearing it would leave a mark on his beautiful face. Roderich didn't deserve that. Roderich was calm, intelligent, a person who one would want to be around. Which bothered her slightly, she began wondering if it was her fault Gilbert would punch and kick Roderich so disgracefully. She hoped it wasn't her that made Gilbert push Roderich around. She not only wanted to know, she needed to know. She will ask Gilbert next time she see's him. But, if that doesn't work, she'd have to inconvenience Roderich with her childish, jealousy-fueled question. She saw that Roderich had woken up "oh! your up! Sorry about what happened earlier...."
